Angora Community Demonstration Garden needs volunteers!
The Tahoe Resource Conservation District (Tahoe RCD) and community volunteers are developing this garden by re-vegetating and installing interpretive demonstrations to provide the community with conservation landscaping ideas on a property burned in the Angora Fire. The use of this property was donated by Leona Allen in honor of her parents, owen and Esther Evans, who lived there for thirty years. Owen’s vision was to provide an educational, community garden on the property that allows neighborhood members a place to enjoy, learn and share a beautiful garden.
The re-vegetation project includes Tahoe native and adapted plants incorporating defensible space, water conservation, wildlife habitat, and erosion control practices specific to properties in the Angora Burn area. The Tahoe RCD is facilitating the coordination of the garden and organizing educational site visits and community workshops.
You can get involved by volunteering in the garden, planting and constructing paths and other demonstrations, and by donating plants and other materials. For more information, contact Courtney Walker at 530-543-1501 extension 118 or cwalker@tahoercd.org
