Environmental Improvement Projects (EIP)/Water Quality Improvement: Montgomery Estates  

Project Description:

The Project encompasses El Dorado County road rights-of-way within portions of the Montgomery Estates, Montgomery Estates at Lake Christopher, Lake Christopher, and Meadow Lakes subdivisions.

 

The goals of the project are to:

· Reduce the amount of fine and coarse sediments delivered to Trout and Cold Creeks from the project area.

· Reduce the amount of stormwater runoff currently being discharged from the project area into Trout Creek and Cold Creek.

· Increase private property BMP implementation to a 25% compliance rate.

Fuels Thinning/Community Wildfire Protection –Lake Valley Fire Protection District (Implementing Agency)

 

Project Description:

The objective is to reduce hazardous fuels loading and potential for catastrophic wildfire both along the urban inter-face area (South-east of Montgomery Estates) and also within the established community on publically owned properties.

High Meadows Restoration Activities: US Forest Service

Project Description:

Restoring the High Meadows areas through three separate components:

· Re-establish stream channels to historic configuration in hopes to revitalize functional meadow systems and restore past drainage patterns.

· Remove heavy concentrations of dead and dying conifers in order to restore area to a healthy and productive forest ecosystem. Maintain and expand existing aspen groves by removing encroaching conifers.

· Re-configure existing trails and roadways to reduce potential for erosion and to minimize impacts on identified sensitive land and habitat areas.
